Fall Time Day/Night Makeup Look

Fall is fastly approaching and I couldn’t be more excited for my favorite time of the year. The makeup look I did today is a very fresh fall inspired look that can easily be changed from day to night time wear. To achieve this fall inspired look I started off with the Make Up For Ever smoothing primer as a base for the skin and then I applied a full face of foundation and set it all with the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. I then used the Cover Fx Illuminating Primer to create a radiant base for my under eye concealer. The under eye concealer I then applied was the Make Up For Ever Ultra Hd Concealer. I then set my under eyes with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Banana Powder. To contour the face I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder in Fawn. The blush I used to apply to the apple of my cheeks is the Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16 hour Blush in Baby Love. To highlight the tops of my cheekbones, my cupids bow, and the tip of my nose, I used the Becca x Jaclyn Hill highlighter in Champagne Pop. Moving on to the eyes, I first used a Mica Eye Primer to make sure my eyeshadow would last all day. I then applied Stila’s kitten shadow all over the eye lid, and used ‘Trick’ from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to add on top of kitten. In the crease I took Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Shadow in Deep Forest and blended that nicely in. For eyeliner I used a black liquid liner to create a small wing, and then took Maybelline’s Color Tattoo Shadow in Bad to the Bronze and traced over the black wing with this metallic brown cream shadow. And to finish off the eyes I used Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara. For the eyebrows I took an angled brush and Maybelline’s Color Tattoo shadow in creamy beige, creating light strokes along my brows to give a natural yet full appearance to the brows. To pull the look together for the day time I applied Mac’s Honey Love to my lips. And to transform this look into the nighttime I applied ColourPop’s liquid matte lipstick in Beeper. Those are the steps that I took to achieve this look. I hope you like the look and enjoyed reading my post. As always feel free to comment!

My Daily Makeup Routine

Recently I’ve fallen into an uncreative rut of sticking to the same makeup routine. I like to think that it’s because I know what works for me and so I’m just sticking to it. Even if that’s not the case, these products are what I’ve been loving and using everyday lately.

I first start off with the Cover FX illuminating primer. My skin tends to be on the dryer side, so I found that using this primer gives a more glowing appearance underneath my foundation, rather than my usually dull skin. I like to next take my Estee Lauder double wear foundation and apply that using the liquid foundation brush from the professional makeup brush collection by Vanity Planet. I recently got these brushes and have been loving them. They feel super soft on my face and are great at blending all of my makeup. Plus the handles have a really cute wood grain pattern, which I love. After my foundation is well blended, I like to take the Nars Creamy Concealer and use that on any blemishes as well as the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Concealer for under eyes. This concealer does a great job of brightening my under eye area. It can tend to crease though after a while, so I like to go in with the Banana powder from the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit. This keeps my under eye concealer fresh all day and free from creasing. Using a yellow- based powder also helps to cancel out any of the blue-purple shadows under your eyes. I’ll then use the shade Fawn from the same palette to bronze up my face or contour a bit, depending on the day. To finish off the face, I use Becca’s Jaclyn Hill Collection Champagne Splits Shimmering Skin Perfector Mineral Blush. I take the shade flowerchild and apply that to apple of cheeks. Next I take Champagne pop and apply it to the tops of my cheekbones as well as the tip of my nose. Now for the eyes, which are my favorite part. Lately, I’ve been using the Makeover Essentials Classic 10 palette in Sunlit Breeze. This palette has a great selection of neutral mattes and shimmers, which are the shades I tend to stick to. Depending on the day I might go in with a shimmery orange-brown on the lid and a darker matte in the crease, or if I want an all matte look I’ll go in with a light cream all over the lid and a light brown in the crease. Next I take my Essence waterproof eyeliner pen, which can be found for really cheap at the drugstore. Not only is it cheap, but it applies great and stays all day. To finish off the eyes I’ll put on a coat of the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, which is hands down my favorite mascara from the drugstore. Lastly I fill in my eyebrows with the Elf eyebrow kit and swipe on a coat of the Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow gel to make sure that they stay in place all day. That’s basically my daily makeup routine. Depending on the day I might change things up a bit or wear lipstick, but for my normal everyday this is it. I hope you enjoyed my post and as always feel free to comment!

Skincare Detox for a Fresh Face

After a long day of having a full face of makeup on, I can almost feel all the makeup and gross pollutants from the day sinking into my skin and there’s nothing I want more than to cleanse my face from the day that its been through. So as soon as I can I’ll go to remove my makeup, first with some makeup wipes and then i’ll use a cleanser to follow up. I got sent Derma E’s Purifying Daily Detox Scrub and the Purifying 2- in -1 Charcoal Mask and incorporated that into my daily skincare routine. This daily scrub is supposed to protect your skin against environmental pollutants, support hydration and nourishment, and help remove toxins from the skin’s surface. So far this scrub has been working very well with my skin. I feel like the scrub does a great job of gently exfoliating, which is ideal for me in any sort of cleanser, as my skin tends to be pretty dry. I also tend to get lots of blemishes, and throughout the weeks I’ve noticed that since using this, my skin has been a lot clearer of blemishes than usual. After this I’ll use the Purifying 2- in – 1 Charcoal Mask, usually twice a week. This mask is meant to detoxify your skin and the charcoal feels very refreshing when applied. For this mask I usually only wait 5 minutes before it’s dry and then I’ll rinse it off. I’ve been really into charcoal products lately because charcoal is known to benefit your skin in so many ways. Charcoal can make your pores smaller as well as cleaner, it can treat acne and also help with oily skin. Now that my skin is feeling detoxed from the day I’ll put on some vitamin E oil to nourish and moisturize and my skin feels fresh from the day. That basically sums up my daily routine for taking care of my skin and making sure all the toxins from the day have left my pores for the night until they  decide to return for the next day. I hope you enjoyed my post and as always feel free to comment!

Derma E Review

The brand Derma E just excitingly launched their new packaging design for the company this September. The brand themselves is not changing any formulations, just the packaging. Today, I thought I would review the brand’s new packaging and aesthetic. The brand’s new packaging is the packaging with the white background and the lighter blue accents. I’m super impressed with the transformation from the previous packaging to their now current packaging. The new packaging reminds of a product that would be found in an expensive spa. I’ve been using these products on the daily now and have been loving them. I tend to have very sensitive skin, so I’m always concerned that new products will break me out, so I was pleasantly surprised when these products didn’t cause my skin any distress. This makes since, considering that the brand themselves is a eco-ethical company. The products are all 100% vegan, GMO-free, cruelty-free, gluten-free, soy-free, and paraben-free. Their products are also really accessible. You can get them at Target, Ulta, Sprouts, Wholefoods, CVS, and Walgreens. Overall, I’m very pleased with the product itself and since packaging is always a big plus to me when it comes to a product, I’m happy to see that they stepped up their game. I hope you enjoyed my post and as always feel free to comment!

My College Makeup Collection

collegemakeup

I’ve been kind of MIA lately on this whole blogging thing, and that’s mostly due to the fact that I just started my first year of college. I’ve been trying to figure out the balancing act that is college life, therefore my blog has been put on the back burner for a little while. But today I thought I would do a college makeup collection, because I’m a bit nosey myself and love seeing what’s in peoples makeup collections. It was a tad hard choosing which products I wanted to take with me to college, but I’m happy with what I brought and I definitely brought more than enough. I haven’t even touched some of the products yet, but as a makeup lover, I love having options.

cmakeupbrushes

First off are my brushes. I got this cute little gold hammered cup from target to put all my brushes in. I brought with me all the basic brushes that I use daily, like my Zoeva blush, foundation, and powder brushes, my real techniques sponge, and an array of eyeshadow brushes for blending and application.

cmakeup1

The first draw in my makeup organizer is full of my Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadows which I absolutely love. These are a super easy and no fuss option when wanting to add some color onto your lids. I also have in this drawer the Mica Beauty eyeshadow primer.

cmakeup2

The second drawer contains my go-to foundation primer, Benefit’s the Professional, as well as a travel-size of Benefit’s they’re real! mascara and Smashbox’s photo finish foundation primer. Along with that I have the Loreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation that I’ve been using nonstop lately. I’ve been loving the natural, dewy coverage it gives.

cmakeup3

The third drawer has my Nars palette which has a bronzer, 3 blushes and a highlighter in it. I also have the Urban Decay Naked Skin Pressed Powder and the Revlon PhotoReady SkinLights face illuminator, along with 2 nail polishes that I didn’t know where to put, so I just stuck them in this draw. 🙂

cmakeup4

My last drawer has in it a Too Faced Blush, Benefit’s Rockateur blush, the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, theBalm Cosmetics Maryloumanizer and the Bath and Body Works bronzer in light.

cmakeup5

These are some of the palettes that I keep in the white container on top of the clear ones. This contains my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour kit, the Stila in the lights eyeshadow palette, the Too Faced natural eyes palette, and the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne collection mineral blush duo.

cmakeup6

This white container is also home to all my eyeliners, with an array of kohl, liquid, black, brown, nude, and dark blue so that all my eyeliner needs are covered. I also have in there my Nars radiant creamy concealer, my Tarte amazonian clay 12 hour foundation, my Estee Lauder double wear foundation, and my mascaras, along with a collection of lipsticks and glosses (mostly of the nude pinks variety).

That’s all of the makeup I have in my dorm for now. I hope you enjoyed having a little peak into my college makeup collection and as always feel free to comment!

Studio Gear Dual Identity Wet/Dry Mineral Foundation

I recently got these products in the mail and was super excited to try them out considering that I personally haven’t heard of any other products like Studio Gear’s Dual Identity Wet/Dry Mineral Foundation. This can be used as a powder foundation, liquid foundation, cream foundation, and also as a finishing powder or cream contour. The versatility of this product is what really intrigued me. I also got in the mail the #3 Domed Foundation brush and the Revitalizing Day Serum. Overall I thought that the mineral foundation was pretty good, but the one thing that was a con for me is the application process. It can be quite difficult and take a long time to apply, and I’m really all about a foundation that I can quickly put on and be out the door. That being said, I really enjoyed the finishing look of this product. It gave a really flawless and natural finish. My favorite way to apply the foundation was by mixing the mineral foundation and the revitalizing serum together and applying that to the face with a brush, then setting it with the mineral foundation, which blended it all together and gave a really beautiful finish. I didn’t get the best results using the domed foundation brush though. I found the brush hard to blend with, so I would go with a different foundation brush if I were you. Overall my main problem with this foundation was the entire application process, but once that was out of the way and handled I loved the finished look. I hope you enjoyed my post and found it useful, and as always feel free to leave a comment!

Play! By Sephora July

This month’s Play! By Sephora theme is Effortless Summer. And I’m excited about all the products that came in this month’s bag. So keep reading and I’ll tell you a little bit about each product.

1.) The first product is the Blotterazzi by beautyblender. This product is supposed to be like a reusable oil blotting paper, keeping you shine free, and it also helps with touching up makeup and preventing cakeiness. One sponge is said to last about 30-45 days with the proper cleansing. This product is going to be great for the summer and I’m definitely going to be getting lots of use out of it on those hot days.

2.) The next product is the First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser. I’ve tried First Aid Beauty products before and I really love how their products are catered towards sensitive skin. Their products are free of harsh chemicals and allergens like, paragons, phthalates, alcohol, fragrances, and artificial dyes. So, I’m really excited to try this cleanser out and see how it works for my skin.

3.) Then there’s the Ouai Wave Spray. I love a good wave spray, especially in the summer, because you can get that really nice, effortless beach hair. So I’m looking forward to giving this product a try.

4.) Up next is the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. I’ve recevied samples of this product multiple times from different subscription boxes, but I can’t be mad at it because I really like this primer. It’s so silky and makes your foundation apply so smoothly. Also, these little sample primers are great to travel with .

5.) Next we have the Benefit Cosmetics Dew the Hoola Soft Matte Liquid Bronzer, which I’ve been wanting to try, so I was really excited when I saw that it was in the bag. I love the natural look that a liquid bronzer can give you, and it’s even better that this bronzer is matte. I have a feeling that I’ll be using this product quite a lot.

6.) And lastly we have this month’s perfume sample, which is Nest Fragrances Citrine. It’s described as layers of fresh lotus flowers and freesia mingle with bright citrus and a base of precious woods. I really enjoy this scent, it’s a beautiful floral scent that isn’t too strong or overpowering.

That’s all the products that came in my Play! by Sephora bag this month. I hope you enjoyed my post and as always feel free to comment!

Current Drugstore Lip Obsessions

These are the affordable lip products that I have been obsessed with currently. As you can see, I’ve been really into the pink nudes lately. Not all of these products can be found at the drugstore, aka the Colourpop products, but they are all definitely drugstore prices.

This is the Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipcolor in the shade Ironic Iris. I saw a friend who also has a very pale complexion wearing this lipstick and the shade looked amazing on her, so I instantly had to know what lipstick she was wearing and it turned out to be this one. The shade of this product is a beautiful berry toned pink, and it instantly drew me in. Now before I sing praises for this lipstick…it does have a couple of flaws. The first thing that I noticed when applying this liquid lipstick is the horrific smell. The scent of this lip product isn’t very pleasant, but once it’s applied to the lips, I can’t smell it, so ultimately this wasn’t a deal breaker. The next thing that might be a con for some people is that it’s very sticky. It takes a couple of minutes for this product to fully dry and if you really pack on the product, this lipstick will feel very sticky. But now on to the reasons I love this lipstick. The main reason I love to use it is because of its incredible staying power. This liquid lipstick will stay on my lips pretty much all day, and even after swatching this product I had such a hard time trying to wipe it off, that’s how you know it’s a long lasting lipstick. Also, a problem that normally occurs with these long lasting matte liquid lipsticks is that they can be very drying. But I have not found this lipstick to be drying one bit which is a huge plus. Overall, why I’m obsessed with this lipstick at the moment is for the gorgeous shade and amazing longevity.

The next product is also from Revlon. It’s the Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the shade Honey. This is a chubby crayon pencil lip product that’s a lip weight stain and moisturizing balm. I’ve been really enjoying this product and the natural look that it gives. I think that this product is great for the summer. It is really moisturizing and adds a really pretty, natural hue of pink to your lips. Its also really easy to apply, so it’s great to keep with you in your purse and reapply throughout the day, or when you feel like you need a color on your lips.

Lastly we have the Colourpop Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencil in the shade Bound. This is a light nude pink in a glossy finish. I love how Colourpop has matching lip pencils for every lippie stix, and the pencil is a different shade that’s meant to pair nicely with the lipstick. The lip pencil is a beautiful dark, nude, mauvey pink. I have been also loving wearing the lip pencil on its own. The lip pencil gives a matte finish, and looks like the classic 90’s shade that’s been very popular lately. Alone, the lippie stix is a very glossy pink, which is beautiful, but paired with the lip pencil it’s gorgeous. The formulation is very moisturizing and creamy, as well as long wearing, which is why I’ve been obsessed with these two products lately.

That’s all of the drugstore lip products that I’ve been loving lately. I hope you enjoyed my post and as always feel free to comment!

Play! By Sephora- May

SONY DSC

I have been a Sephora lover for a while now and it’s probably my favorite place to shop for makeup. So, when I heard that they were coming out with their own monthly beauty subscription box I was super excited and immediately signed up on the wait list. I finally got off the wait list and was able to sign up for the Play! box. I’m excited to share with ya’ll what was in this month’s box and my first Play! By Sephora box. The theme of the box this month is “The Forces of Nature”. Meaning that all the products in the May box are “natural and good for you” products.

1.) The first thing that came in the bag was a Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial. This is an overnight facial treatment that’s supposed to brighten and moisturize. I’ve never used a Korres product before, but I’ve heard some great things about the brand, so I was excited that this was in this month’s box. I really enjoy overnight skincare items like this; you can just put them on before bed and when you wake up you see the benefits. Also, this product is made with wild rose oil which helps to even skin tone and  improve fine lines, and it gives the product a nice, fresh rose scent that I absolutely love.

2.) The second item in the bag was the Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair deep conditioning mask. I also appreciate a nice hair mask, and just taking that time to add one more step into your hair care routine can make all the difference. I have tried this product out, and I’ve been really enjoying it. It’s supposed to soften and reduce fizz and also give your hair a beautiful shine.

3.) The next product in the bag was a Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in the shade Kimchi, which is a bright pink. I am familiar with Bite Beauty and already love their lip products, so I was really excited to receive this cute little lipstick from Bite Beauty. This product is made with 12 edible oils that provide intense hydration. This shade has great pigmentation and glides on beautifully.

4.) There was also the Origins Maskimizer and two sample masks. The sample bottle of the maskimizer is very small, but I feel like it made up for it considering that they also combined samples of their drink up and clear improvements masks, which I already own and love. When I opened this product the idea of the maskimizer really intrigued me. I’ve never seen a product like this before. It’s a mist that primes the skin for optimal mask use. Although it does seem like an unnecessary step, I feel like it’s something that would make the mask process that bit more luxurious. I’m excited to try this out and see if it does anything beneficial.

5.) The next product that I found in the bag is the Tarte lip crayon in the shade Latergram. I am very familiar with the Tarte Cosmetics brand and am already a fan of them, so I was excited to see a lip crayon from them that I haven’t tried yet. The shade of this lip crayon is a beautiful nude and I can’t wait to try it out.

6.) The last product in the bag was a perfume sample. Every month they choose a perfume sample for the Play! box, and this month it was the Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine. I don’t normally go for scents like this one, but I actually really like it, it would be the perfect scent for summer. It has a “blend of sweet blood orange and bitter orange peel paired with notes of geranium.”

So that’s all of the products that came in the May Play! By Sephora Box. I was pretty happy with the products that I got. I’m not sure of my overall opinion of this subscription service yet, as it was only my first box, but I’m definitely excited to see how next month’s compares. I hope you enjoyed my post and as always feel free to comment!

Studio Gear True Whipped Gloss Stain Review

True Pebble

True Fuchsia

True Wine

True Red

True Burgundy

Today I’m going to be reviewing the Studio Gear Cosmetics True Whipped Gloss Stain. I was kindly sent these products by Studio Gear, but all opinions are 100% my own and unbiased. This is Studio Gear’s new lip formula that comes in 5 shades. True Pebble (a grey toned pink nude), True Fuchsia (a bright berry shade), True Wine (a dark purple toned berry), True Red (a bright orange-toned red), and True Burgundy (a deep brown toned red). First off, I really like the packaging. It comes in a nice glass bottle and has very simple and sleek lines making it look very sophisticated. Even though the packaging isn’t the most important, good packaging makes the product all that more better in my opinion. Studio Gear describes their product as, “Deliciously whipped, lightweight and supple, with a powerful dose of stay-all-day pigment. This luscious one coat gloss slowly melts into your lips to a gorgeous, just-bitten stain, so you’ll never be caught naked…”. Firstly, the pigmentation of this product is great, which is really important when you’re looking for a beautiful bold lip. The texture of this product reminds me more of a light-weight liquid lipstick than a gloss. With that being said, nonetheless it feels very creamy when applied and glides on smoothly. The finish of the whipped gloss stain is a creamy, satin finish and doesn’t feel at all drying to the lips. After eating or drinking the product does come off and transfer, as I would expect from this type of finish. But, when the product does transfer it leaves a nice stain of color behind, which is beautiful and something that’s different about this product compared to a normal lip gloss or lipstick. All the shades are beautiful and would go great with a variety of skin tones. My personal favorite is True Pebble, I’ve been wearing this shade a lot lately! Overall, I was really impressed with this product and glad that I got to try them out. I hope you enjoyed my post and as always feel free to comment!
